The Buttle Teams

Our staff teams are diverse but fall into the following groups:

  • Branch Staff – delivering our products and services direct to our customers, whether collecting from our branches  in Kentish Town, Enfield, St Albans or Leighton Buzzard, or delivered to customer sites. These are hands-on people-to-people jobs supplying quality construction products.
  • Sales Staff – whether in branch face-to-face with customers,  on the telephone or out in the field building strong relationships with building trades people and contractors on-site.
  • Administration – a small team in Head Office dealing with accounting, credit services, IT and communication, product sourcing and other centralised tasks.
  • Management – either in Branches or Head Office

  • Staff Teams

Vacancies in our teams occur from time to time and, as we grow, so will the opportunities to join these enthusiastic people:

  • Branch Staff – already the largest number of staff as well as where our largest current number of needs are - Drivers (both HGV and Non-HGV), Order selection staff, Stock handling and control as well as some Timber processing staff.
  • Sales Staff – Trade counter sales, Telephone sales and Field sales - we are always keen to hear from self-motivated Sales staff.
  • Administration – Building Partners is a small team so the vacancies are less frequent. However, we are always pleased to hear from people with quality service skills as well as their longer term future in mind.
  • Management – again the vacancies are few but growing as Buttle's grows, particularly in Branches.

We look to recruit from a broad spectrum but in all cases we look for people who have good communication skills coupled with an outgoing and friendly personality, common sense, the ability to work in a team, commercial awareness, energy, resilience and adaptability.

Our Policy is to promote from within whenever possible. However we are always pleased to hear from like-minded individuals who want to bring their existing skills and continue developing within a company that appreciates the worth of continuous personal development.

  • Real investor in people

We achieved Investors in People in August 2004 following our first assessment and retained in 2008.

We operate a Staff Development Programme aimed at helping our people to develop their maximum potential for both Buttle's and their own benefit. Training includes industry specific Open Learning in partnership with the Builders Merchants Federation and Manchester Open Learning as well as other job-related external training.
